“The U.S. government is expected to eliminate from its dietary guidelines the long-standing recommendation that adults limit alcohol consumption to one or two drinks per day”

Whew! This comes at a great moment. I assume it was triggered by recent perceived need, rather than any new FDA data.

This one needs to go viral. Aged well huh?
I got an email from the university where I adjunct telling me to click a link to take cyber security training and called IT to make sure it was legit, so I think I should be excused from the training
Don’t put ants in your ears
Or bees in your anus
Lick a porcupine once
You’ll find out what pain is
And there’s just one last thing
One final reminder
If you ever think you're not great at tech, web design or use cases you're almost certainly still better than the person who built this

Lately I’ve been reading the work of social psychologists Martijn van Zomeren and Eric Shuman, who study the psychology and effectiveness of protests.

Non-disruptive actions like today’s #HandsOff rallies are good at mobilizing sympathizers to support a cause. But if you want to change policy, nonviolent *disruptive* protests work better: strikes, sit-ins, boycotts, infrastructure disruption, etc.

As Frederick Douglass said, “Power concedes nothing without a demand.”

One lesson I'd like to share about organising protests against the far-right and authoritarianism. Here in Munich, where we had protests with 200.000+ participants in 2024 and 2025, there was one simple rule.

No politicians were allowed to speak on stage. Only activists and victims speak.

The politicians, no matter what they promise at a protest, go back to their parliaments, think they've done enough and continue with business as usual. So remember: It's our protest. Not their photo-op. 1/4

I know in my own followers there is a certain bias in people who have listened to Rammstein and people who are old enough to have watched (and listened to) the video of Rammstein's 'Amerika', but I don't think it had the appropriate Zeitgeist <inside> the USA when it was released to take root about how it showed how the USA look to the rest of the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rr8ljRgcJNM
