I’m inclined to believe that’s true, but I’m disappointed that the organizers haven’t made this clear in the midst of the discourse and drama.

I see all of these comments, claiming it’s banned using almost identical phrasing, which really has the hallmarks of misinformation propagation where there’s no actual primary source to back it up. That’s not conducive to a healthy discussion. The organizers have a responsibility to clear this up.

Great article! I just wanted to mention one use that’s not mentioned: Chromium Embedded Framework. I don’t think it ended up being very widely used overall, but before electron it was the best option for some similar scenarios. Google Web Designer (originally started outside of Google as Motorola Ninja or something like that) was where I saw it used in 2014 but the project was older than that.

@nixCraft @bagder in a space that’s overrun with commercial exploitation, genuine, bad, faith, actors, and grifters, these are not the bad actors that we need to be concerned with. These folks are trying to improve privacy, protections for students in a country where they have very little legislative or institutional support. They have way more of my respect than the jackass complaining about them.

Your post is shameful and you should be embarrassed

@nixCraft @bagder I find this call out to be in extremely poor taste and to reflect very badly on the notepad++ folks. this isn’t some company that’s commercially exploiting their work, it’s a nonprofit association working on behalf of public school boards, a system, which is being systematically underfunded and under resourced, and the government is a actively attempting to sabotage, who do not have the right resources and expertise to handle these things with nuance.

Well my employer has decided to partner with Palantir, which means it's time for me to find a new job. I was a lot more willing to make 40% less than market rate when I knew my employer wasn't funding concentration camps because they want AI coding tools.

Anyway if you need a UX designer/researcher located around the Minneapolis-St. Paul region of Minnesota, USA who knows his way around US government regulations for CMS quality reporting, healthcare, enterprise software I'm looking!

For all of you who have been so incredibly helpful, I cannot thank you enough!
