@simonedsun if i had sensed this at all in my interviews with my new dept I’d have turned it down but did no such vetting at the postdoc institution 🥴
It sounds kinda terrifying to be on the tenure clock in a department where sympathetic senior faculty tell juniors to keep their heads down because it’s 50/50 whether the conservative seniors will vote down tenure cases not because of work outputs but politics…

Delighted to share this this article is now #openaccess in SSTE!

I've got a new #article out!!

"Measuring Geographic Access to #Transgender Hormone Therapy in Texas: A 3-Step Floating Catchment Area Analysis" in #spatial #spatiotemporal #epidemiology journal

Major takeaways:
- #trans care access does not neatly follow patterns of access for primary care
- service planning could tackle overlapping care deserts for primary and #genderaffirmingcare
- spatial methods WILDLY underutilized in trans research

Had a great time at #PAA2023 this past week! It was my first time and didn't know what to expect but it was great!

Got to present my work on #geography methods for access to #genderaffirmingcare in Texas

Chaired/organized two panels on #SOGI #demography that were standing room only (like 50-75 people!)

Met a bunch of new colleagues and friends

and now there's talk of a #queer #trans demography affinity group     🥰

@kendraserra thank you! 🥰 feels great to have my work recognized/honored

Really excited and grateful to announce I won this year's #AAG2023 #digital #geography outstanding #dissertation award for my dissertation "Incomplete Data & Insufficient Methods: Transgender Population Health Research in the US"

Can't say thank you enough to the digital geographies specialty group, the reviewers, and everyone who supported me during that dissertation (which I only defended 10 months ago! 😳 )

Brimming with pride :)

@kendraserra thank you! I didn’t realize it wasn’t cause I am on mobile. Will edit in my laptop shortly 😇

Please consider taking this #survey on geographic access to gender-affirming care!

If you
-have ever access gender-affirming hormones or surgeries
-live in the USA
-are 18+
then we (myself, Dr Gamarel & Dr Haimson ) would love to hear from you!

Geographic Access to Gender-Affirming Care in the US

This survey seeks to understand how far transgender adults travel to access gender-affirming healthcare. It also seeks to discern where transgender people source information about healthcare facilities and providers who offer trans-friendly or trans-specific services.
