Please, if you are not a person of African descent, reconsider creating 1st-level toots using the #BlackTwitter #BlackMastodon #BlackFedi or #BlackFediverse, etc, hashtags. In this moment of flux, a lot of Black folks are trying to find each other via these hashtags. It might be more considerate to use #BlackTwitterAllies and other such hashtags to show support for Black communities without co-opting them.

I adore Mastodon.
Other social media looks too cluttered and overwhelming.
It's also wonderful that me and my business are able to provide a free and ad-free #ActuallyAutistic community for fellow autistics on our https://autistics.life server.
And a place where we can find each other no matter where our instance is.
This is something I've wanted to do for a long time. Grateful I'm finally in a position to do so.
And I'm grateful for the Mastodon devs who built this.
2022 isn’t the year that we emerged from the pandemic.
It’s the year we chose to normalize ignoring it and leaving the most vulnerable behind.
I recently contributed a blog style piece for ASME - Association for the Study of Medical Education for their December spotlight on disability in medicine.
Read on for my story (Dr Sarah Bernard) and those of 7 other contributors, all sharing our lived experience of disability in medicine.
I’m glad to share my experience, for disabled doctors and future disabled doctors!

Any pundit who is criticizing Pres. Zelenskyy's attire is failing to read the room, but moreover, they're just completely missing the point.
A country and its leader under immediate and existential threats have no time for suits and neckties.
He has no visible rank or medals or nametapes or epaulets or brass buttons or starched creases. He's wearing what women and men who are fighting on the frontlines in Ukraine are wearing.
He's wearing the urgency of the moment.
That's the point.
All jokes aside, remember what Christmas is really about, people.
Rich people being terrorized by spectres until they agree to pay their employees a living wage.
Here’s a good piece on the problems faced by disabled people in employment, and why the pay gap needs to be removed. The benefits to everyone are clear, but businesses seem determined to discriminate against disabled people.
As winter tightens its grip, businesses can’t afford to ignore the disability pay gap a second longer

If a disabled and/or chronically ill person purchases something (assistive devices, etc) to help make their lives less painful, don't make fun of them. 😔
