@helle @maeow Correct, it's a leftover single track used to import cars to Leusden. One thing it's very good at is blocking the cycle path, since the drivers often don't pull into the station far enough when they need to wait to get onto the main network.

@yassie_j It's funny how in a labour shortage we're all supposed to accept that things get worse and more expensive, but once a company supposedly increases productivity it's okay to make people redundant rather than make things better or more affordable.

@helle I get my modafinil in 180 day supplies. Half the time they come in tiny boxes, the other half it's boxes twice the size. It's a surprise every time!

@neil I think the main reason this might not be obvious from the documentation is because the idea of a 'server' doesn't really make sense in Syncthing's model. If you just share a folder from one central device that's always on, you get a traditional hub-spoke model no matter how many other devices you share it with.

You might want to consider setting that 'server' up as an introducer, that way all the devices you share a folder with will also automatically connect to each other, so they can sync without the server in-between.

For added security you could also consider setting a password on it and making the server untrusted, that way the server never decrypts the data but can sync with all devices.

@barometz Yeah someone really needs to learn about the boy who cried wolf. Since the introduction of NL Alert I have only received the test alerts and inactionable bullshit like this.

@hans5524 Ik zit even niet meer helemaal in de materie in het strafrecht maar zo ik me herinner is daar wel een grondslag voor als er een realistische verdenking is dat er strafbare feiten gepleegd zullen worden, en de officier van justitie toestemming heeft gegeven.

@bert_hubert Dat is nog best een interessante. Ik denk wel dat het juridisch houdbaar is. De politie mag patrouilleren en onderzoekshandelingen verrichten op basis van een redelijke verdenking. Het is niet onredelijk om te verwachten dat een auto met een Nederlands kenteken net over de grens bedoeld is voor import. Naar analogie van https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrest_Azewijnse_paard lijkt het me lastig om daar iets tegenin te brengen.

@h5e Mostly an antiquated one, I think? Like, sure, many years ago you could hand some folks a stack of cash and get a place and furniture and a coffee maker and a register and just start a coffee shop. These days, by the time you've got the zoning permission and the certifications and the infrastructure you're still going to be too busy keeping up with paperwork and marketing and regulations to actually… serve coffee.
There's a reason so many independent places get swallowed up by franchise chains. It's really hard to survive alone.

@iamada Webserver is mostly just the simplest solution I can think of, hosted by some kind of agent on the desktop. The aux device only needs a browser, and the agent can decide what kind of UI to show depending on what's needed. It's honestly such an obvious idea that I'm surprised I can't think of a lot of good examples.
