Now that I have an ebike with a removable battery that I’ve taken to removing & storing in my apartment so it isn’t stolen, I am getting a bit paranoid about fire safety. That thing contains a lot of energy!!!

A Marsh Wren singing enthusiastically in Mercer Slough! Shortly after the video ended he flew over and got a big munch of fluff from a cattail, for his nest presumably.

Code gods are blessing me this week because I actually had the easiest time setting up an OpenTelemetry thing. Metrics started flowing on the first try. That never happens!
@TheNeedling @dan you laugh but Calgary, Alberta has shared light rail/car streets downtown or at least they used to when I went there for college 15 years ago lol

Anybody have strong opinions on the merits of getting a purpose-built e-bike vs. a conversion?

Lightning talk accepted for Software Should Work conf in Missouri in mid-July. 10-15 mins to present how powerful the Go & Rust concurrency checkers are. 1.5 months to learn that, better get started!

Went to the local seattle Handmade meetup yesterday and had a lovely time! Was only planning to go for the talks but stayed afterward to hang out with others for hours. Nice event if you care about software! Last Saturday of every month.

@skinnylatte circa 2008 U2 album release was awful. Local radio station paid I guess their entire annual licensing budget for “Magnificent” and played it every 15 minutes on the dot.
Was excited to learn my employer offers $10k/year tuition reimbursement! But then looking at UW's "adult continuing education" catalogue it is entirely composed of pre-101 rocks for jocks type fluff (although one course on the oceanography of puget sound looks genuinely interesting). Maybe I can audit a course? Actually what I should really use this for is get reimbursed for learning Mandarin.
