@adrianco have you seen the Amazon Rivian trucks? They look like they came out of a Dr Who episode 20-50 years in the future.
@adrianco last time I had to do something similar it was easy to take the HD out from that laptop, so I bought an external drive enclosure and plugged in to another working computer to do the operations needed - it was faster and easier than booting from CD/USB.
@TheSpaceshipper @artofsoulburn congratulations, Neil!
Andrew Tate: Chats in 'War Room' suggest dozens of women groomed. An actual groomer. Not a drag queen. Not LGBTQ. Not a school librarian who dares to question a Moms for Liberty member.

Andrew Tate: Chats in 'War Room' suggest dozens of women groomed

Messages seen by the BBC appear to show how the influencer's "War Room" targeted possible victims.

@dangillmor Google and Meta make money advertising. They leverage content from news sites, extract images, article snippets, with attribution and linkage, and people will read the snippet, see the images and may choose to not navigate to the newspaper site. So it is a one-sided profit scheme here, one where G/M profit using content created by others.
I wish it didn’t need to be law, but G/M will make a profit.
If I were the newspaper I would make it so that they couldn’t extract the articles with crawlers, or I would provide yipsen loren type articles for their crawlers.
@Migueldeicaza yup. As a country we have been lacking checks and balances lately, some worst than others. In some cases there are processes to enact to handle corruption and, but in others there are not. And most recently there is also an effort to brush off corruption as ‘normal’. I personally also loathe ‘Citizens United’ because corporations are not people.
I truly feel helpless.
@Migueldeicaza I’d love to know how checks and balances are handled for the SCOTUS. I haven’t heard of any way this can be done.

Stop thinking of Twitter, TikTok, IG, (et al) as social media sites.

They are **Content Refineries.**

Like processed food manufacturers they take user content & extract the most addicting/engaging content. Brains eat it up but in an unhealthy “devour the whole bag of chips” way.

They make hyper-processed social media junk food.

Mastodon is more like a potluck. We're all bringing dishes. It's a mess. Kids are running all over. But we are, at least, real people sharing real things.

@Steve98052 @CatDragon @QasimRashid thank you for the clarification.
I can see the costs of those rising because they’re primarily based off manual labor which would have increasing costs, but if the wages are stagnated and the services costs rise, who’s pocketing the difference?
@Steve98052 @CatDragon @QasimRashid if I’m reading it correctly, the Baumol effect would be the reason why a worker at McDonnalds would be making a similar wage as a nurse or an airline pilot. That is not reality, though. Lower paid wages continue to pay minimum wage - in fact, wages have stagnated for a long time.
