I designed the 12-bit rainbow palette for use on https://grid.iamkate.com. It consists of twelve colours chosen with consideration for how we perceive luminance, chroma, and hue. The palette uses a 12-bit colour depth, so each colour requires only four characters when specified as a hexadecimal colour code in a CSS or SVG file. For more details, see https://iamkate.com/data/12-bit-rainbow/

issues with #fedora #dnf ? then

`sudo echo "ip_resolve=4" >> /etc/dnf/dnf.conf`

looks like an issue with their server on IPv6

Mythtastic
Setting up a reverse proxy in a #podman #rootless #container ? Good for you. Did you put it in a network? No? Then it’s isolated from others containers. Yes? Then congrats, you can reach other containers by http://their-name:their-published-port. It’s not #SELinux, it’s not the #caddy Caddyfile, it’s just how the default Podman network works, it isolates all the containers and pods running in it. 🥵😖🤯
Repeat with me: don’t point the router wan dns to the #pihole unless you mean to test it against a DOS attack.
I think I’m ready to hate Podman. Or SELinux. Or both. Why the hell :z does not automagically solve all my issues? #podman #selinux
@ShellFish how do you usually resize a tux pane on macOS? I tried ctrl+b, arrow right, meta + arrow right, and crtl + arrow right.

Reproducible examples, from a friend's feed, of what Copilot spits out when you ask it calculate women's salaries in python and ruby respectively.

It's important to note: these are not "errors" or "hallucinations". These are "correct", at least in the sense that they're giving you accurate data about the status quo reality of tech salaries, justice and fairness be damned.

But ask yourself what else they're repeating back to you that's not so easy to spot.

Boost this toot if you're planning on sticking around Mastodon & the Fediverse whether or not it's more popular than Bluesky.

@mhoye i don't think "correct" is a useful way to frame it since this technology is fundamentally incapable of measuring or being aware of that concept nor of falsehood! i also wanted to tag @OpenSexism
@hipsterelectron @mhoye @OpenSexism It is correct based on the data is has, though. The point is that there are other social injustices and biases baked into LLMs, many of which are much more subtle and insidious.
@mhoye Presumably it also means that people have written similar functions in projects on GitHub...
@mhoye also ask yourself how many zero-empathy bros are already using this shit, see that exact class of error, and shrug because it doesn't affect them / actively builds the world they would prefer.
"spotting the errors" is a deflective construct in the same way "individual purchasing decisions combat climate change" is - the systemic effect is the (POSIWID) point.

@mhoye A few years back the Austrian job market service agency did something similar. They computed a score for every job seeker to see who should get the expensive courses and who shouldn't.
If you were a woman, you automatically got a negative factor of 0.14, indicating worse chances in the job market just because of that.

Maybe representative of reality, but still a terrible thing to carry over into actual decision making.

The technical products have crystallized social relations, whether we want them to, or not.

Crystallized Social Relations — Superversive

The importance of Data Governance on Product Management seemed obvious to me. I went down a rabbithole trying to articulate terms like “technostructure” and “networked society” to explain why. Sam McAfee summed it up nicely: “Algorithms have been around since antiquity; the digital computer m
