Valentin Rothberg gave a great talk and a quick demo on Image Mode today at the PCM, and Jan Holzer talked about the Mono Repo. If you missed the meeting, the video is now up on YouTube! https://youtu.be/CbBHL83QPlw #podman #opensource

Podman AI Lab and RamaLama unite for easier local AI | Red Hat Developer

Learn how Podman AI Lab and RamaLama work together to simplify local AI model execution, using containers and GPU support for faster, easier AI development

@darkghosthunter The replacement for VMWare is #Kubernetes or #OpenShift ; See kube-virt for the direct conversion path.

See okd.io for OpenShift upstream and crc.dev or #podman for local install options. Bootc & RHEL Image Mode are bare-metal immutable deployment options.
For something lighter weight than #k8s, see podman.systemd.unit

It's still experimental on FreeBSD. So, not yet. But the more devs use it and contribute, the faster it'll get there. #Podman, that is.

Arghh, just wasted an hour getting frustrated by an issue with Caddy using Podman, wondering why it wouldn't reverse proxy a new pod I had set up.

Checked the config file a million times - fine
Created a new container to try connecting directly to the published port of the pod using curl - fine

Finally realised, what if I just restart the main Caddy container? Problem disappears!

The answer is always turn it off and back on again! #podman

Unhappy with #DockerDesktop on #macOS? Give #Colima a try!

It's a free and open #container runtime for macOS. It now supports the macOS #virtualization framework, #virtiofs for fast volume mounts and forwarding #inotify events for hot/live reloading. It can even provide a #containerd, #kubernetes or #incus runtime.

(I would've preferred #podman, as that's what I'm mostly using in production, but it still doesn't support forwarding inotify events on macOS)

Hurrah, My vm restarted last night and all my #podman pods came back up first time. #settingtheTimeoutStartSecto900
For my homelab CoreOS config that I store publicly with git I've been wondering what to do about secrets.

For the containers at least I'm thinking
- Use Podman secrets when possible
- Script to setup the Podman secrets through bitwarden cli

Problem is, I will host Bitwarden on the host that will initially not have any secrets. Shouldn't be an issue as Bitwarden can manage without a secret, but still a limitation that needs to be solved separately.

Don't really wanna store secrets through git but would like to have an offline solution if possible. Generating the secrets could be possible, at least for initial setup, but then I wanna be able to access the secrets easily too

So much thinking
