Spent a few hours(!) chatting with @chergert on the modern #linux developer experience. I've been thinking about this a bunch.

There's two worlds we deal with. The first is the local dev story via #gnome builder.

And then my world, which is a container runtime like #podman or docker as the API for devs, and then you just use your IDE or the CLI/GUI tool to do your container management. Or a web panel, or whatever, the flexibility is that CRI interface.

I just discovered this blog post despite being familiar with podman desktop! cc @mairin I feel like I found a rosetta stone!

We have all the tools already! In Bluefin I ship all of that but I didn't know about that podman vscode extension. So if I ship all three that solves the problem. That's a pure CNCF dev stack (other than the IDE) using all of the podman pieces as intended.

No one is shipping this ootb? Working on this right now, especially since the IDE can be swapped out.

... and then that gives us some breathing room to bring more cloud native tech to #GNOME development and spend some time working on this plumbing!
