I suspect I am going to get a lot of use out of this new sticker design.

"We have been incredibly naïve in entrusting our democratic space to […] social networks, whose interests are not at all the survival or proper functioning of our democracies."
Emmanuel Macron, President of France

@Unixbigot it’s endlessly frustrating. Bike and foot paths can be closed (without any detour, let alone a safe replacement) seemingly at whim. My attempts to talk to the workers are always fruitless, and to be fair, it’s usually not their fault.

@paul @eschaton I like to imagine that instead of the LLM behind the prompt, there’s a person. Instead of paying Anthropic/whoever, I’m paying a human. All the generated code is written by the hidden person. All those constant values replaced by defines were written by the person behind the interface.

Now, do I consider the result to be 100% my own work? I find that I cannot.

I still can't even that my now nearly 80 year old mom has been on Fedora on a thinkpad e520 (2011) for a decade and it all just works.

I checked her laptop just now and it's fully up to date on fedora 43, so she's done like 20 version upgrades autonomously too. The battery has degraded a little but the whole thing still works fine and she's very happy with it.

This is how things should be, this is peak computing tbh.

@mayank it’s distressing that it’s come to this. For all its many faults, FOSS has been a wonderful collective endeavour.
Re-reading "Neuromancer" and I'm struck how the protagonist wanting to get out of debt by selling 3MB of RAM went from being laughably dated to seeming actually plausible within recent months
@historyofpunkrock ok, I’m curious: what’s with the “uncensored kung-fu films”?
@mrc that said, I use that tent for my bikepacking, and it’s absolutely good value for the price.
