The first all-female punk rock group The Slits made their live debut, opening for The Clash at the Harlesden Coloseum (often cited as the Roxy Club) London, March 10 & 11, 1977

Buzzcocks and Subway Sect were also on the bill

@historyofpunkrock ok, I’m curious: what’s with the “uncensored kung-fu films”?

The British Board of Film Censorship was often quite heavy-handed re violence. Also for a while, any scenes with nunchaku or throwing stars had to be cut to get a BBFC rating, & most cinemas wouldn't show anything without a BBFC rating.

Here's what they did to Enter The Dragon

@historyofpunkrock where the films intended as educational, because of all the violence on the streets?
@historyofpunkrock I was referring to the Kung Fu films and asked myself if they were a Community upskilling project to enable the punks if they got involved in fights. I remember that Viv wrote about some clashes in her book.
I think it's more to do with the British Board of Film Censors being unrelenting twats, to the degree that their overreach in the 1970s is nowadays a topic of academic study
