How to make your hashtags appear neatly at the bottom of your posts:

1. Write the tags on a single line at the end of the post, with nothing else after them
2. Include a blank line above the hashtag line
3. You can also include tags in the body of the post and they will work, but they won't appear at the end
4. Not every app or interface shows the tags neatly like this, but those that can will do so

See the attached image for an example of tags with this kind of neat formatting.

If you're on mastodon.social, you might want to move your account to a different server:

The Fediverse is protected from takeover as long as we are spread out on many servers. If one server dominates, takeovers become easier.

Mastodon.social is currently 25.5% of the active Fediverse. This proportion is way too large and seems to be increasing.

Larger servers also tend to have worse moderation and are harder to defederate, threatening safety.

You can prevent it by adding anything *after* the hashtag line, this prevents it being displayed in a different format.

@Peter_Link @FediTips If you manage your instance it's in Server Settings - Appearance, there is a custom CSS box. The bottom tags are in .hashtag-bar 😁

@FediTips thanks for the tip! Worth pointing out that doing hashtags this way (rather than just tagging certain words in the text of the toot itself) is really important for making stuff readable for people who are visually impaired and need to use screen readers.

It works depending on what you're using to view the post. I can see your hashtags formatted at the end correctly, because I'm viewing your post from an interface that supports it (in this case the Mastodon web interface but there are others).
