Nobody who follows a plushie on Mastodon needs to be lectured about this, but if you need a citation for your uncle or neighbor on what people outside the US think:

Americans, you have made yourself the hideous villains of the free world. People in the many countries that are happier, healthier, safer, and better educated than yours are no longer willing to consider you a trustworthy and reliable peer. You have taken your unimaginably large social capital as "the Good Guy" and set it all on fire, for absolutely no benefit to you or to anyone except the evilest tiny handful of men on the planet, who benefit from a lack of anyone able to enforce morals and law against them. You are fast running out of friends and your future as a nation is going up in smoke. Your children will learn someone else's language to earn a work visa and consider themselves lucky to leave your ashen grave of a failed empire.

I'm an American. I learned someone else's language, got a work visa and left. Best decision of my life.
