Auschwitz Memorial28 March 1926 | A Czech Jewish girl, Edita SpitzovΓ‘, was born in KolΓn (in the middle).
She was imprisoned in Theresienstadt Ghetto on 8 February 1942 and deported to Auschwitz on 26 October 1942 together with her mother Anna (b. 1893) & father Eduard (b. 1886). None of them survived.

31 March 1914 | Grisha Prishkulnik (George Preston) was born in RΓ³wne (today Rivne, Ukraine). A Jew, an engineer educated in France. Arrested by Gestapo in Lille, he survived Auschwitz (no 160581) - Bobrek sub-camp. He emigrated to the USA. He passed away in 2006.

2 April 1875 | A Hungarian Jewish woman, Karolin Schwartz, was born in Ujpest.
In 1944 she was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber.

3 April 1943 | A transport of 2,800 Greek Jews deported by Germans from ghetto in Thessaloniki arrived at the Auschwitz camp. During the selection SS doctors sent 2,208 people to be murdered in gas chambers. 334 men & 258 women were registered in the camp as prisoners.

12 April 1936 | A French Jewish girl, Marcelle Brotkiewicz, was born in Paris.
She arrived at Auschwitz on 26 August 1942 in a transport of 1000 Jews deported from Drancy. After selection, she was murdered in a gas chamber.

13 April 1943 | A transport of 2,800 Greek Jews deported by Germans from ghetto in #Thesaloniki arrived at the #Auschwitz camp. During the selection SS doctors sent 1,936 people to be murdered in gas chambers. 500 men & 364 women were registered in the camp as prisoners.
14 April 1943 | Three Roma boys born in Zigeunerlager at Auschwitz II-Birkenau were registered in the camp:
Anton Georg Bernhardt (b. 14 April, Z-6068), VIadislav JaneΔek (b. 23 March, Z-6070) & Johann Weinrich (b. 11 March, Z-6091).
They shared the tragic fate of all 378 Roma children born in the camp.

16 April 1944 | The 71st transport of Jews deported from occupied #France arrived at #Auschwitz from #Drancy. SS doctors selected 165 men and 223 women to be registered in the camp. The remaing 1,112 people were murdered in gas chambers.
