I mostly post idiosyncratic mashups of random events. “Retired” after 35 yrs in investments to do photo s/w. Aiming to make 🇺🇸better—as my parents did. We/us

After complaining about "nuclear warming" again last week Trump spent his weekend calling climate change "one of the great scams" as hurricane Helene wiped out vast tracts of the American South and it was revealed his campaign has been working with a climate change denial front group for fossil industry, the Heartland Institute, to design push polls for Rasmussen.

"You'll be OK," Trump declared as the body count continued rising.

Sen Britt’s job was to distract Americans from talking about Biden’s SOTU proposals, not least on how to manage immigration

Three days later, the chattering classes are going off on Those Kwazy, Lying Politicians

Mission Accomplished, with a little help from US

What an amazingly succinct summary of the moral nihilism that undergirds fascism.

This has to be one of the most poignant, tragic photos ever.

Blood-stained copy of the lyrics of "Shir LaShalom" ("Song for Peace"), found in Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin's pocket after his assassination.

@WarnerCrocker There are different types of democracy. We are on a month-to-month plan since we don’t know if we’ll be switching to fascism next year.

An arguable takeaway is that today’s institutional racism is a SYMPTOM of a caste system built over past centuries to enrich a few (plantation owners) even as it HARMS the Majority whites

Of course money has power everywhere but racism can lock in a hierarchy in ways mere income can’t

America’s Surprising Partisan Divide on Life Expectancy

Centuries-old settlement patterns — and the attitudes they spawned about government — are to blame for differences in longevity between red southern states and bluer parts of the country.

Hello, @JuliusGoat

I see I am blocked on twitter. Maybe bc I RT’d your Good Guy With A Dinosaur thread, maybe mentioning your substack story. (I can't find my tweet, either)

Maybe you didn't like what I wrote though I was impressed enough to recommend your thread to MY followers. Or maybe a little oopsie

Or maybe New Twitter is cracking down HARD on people who link to substacks (conspiracy theory listed last)

Care to say which did it? Would you unblock me?
