After complaining about "nuclear warming" again last week Trump spent his weekend calling climate change "one of the great scams" as hurricane Helene wiped out vast tracts of the American South and it was revealed his campaign has been working with a climate change denial front group for fossil industry, the Heartland Institute, to design push polls for Rasmussen.
"You'll be OK," Trump declared as the body count continued rising.

@msbellows the trick in politics is to have multiple channels of communications so the pol can say one thing to one constituency, put a different spin on it for another
I think this is as old as politics itself and I do not imagine this targeted messaging has even gotten terribly more difficult in our era of social media and multiple propaganda outlets
(I am of course referring to how MAGA will try to frame her positions)
@mastodonmigration IMO the problem isn’t that Biden is senile, it’s that YEARS AGO MAGA propaganda framed our perceptions of his stuttering etc ad that he’s senile
And (as is true for all such lying propaganda) it’s extremely difficult to change it—“you can’t reason a man out of a belief he wasn’t reasoned into”
The only way to win is to put out memes that put Trump in defensive mode—as in “his big beautiful Wall didn’t stop illegal immigration bc he only wants to rant about it—that’s why he told the MAGA Party House members to NOT agree to the real immigration reform Biden proposed”
@msbellows @JaniceOCG not a bad thought but it illustrates more that, thanks to the MAGA Outrage Machine having ALREADY set the terms of the debate as “Biden is senile; Trump’s merely a loose cannon,”
Biden’s one job was to simply look & sound sharp
@GottaLaff as I read the story, it was a hard-MAGA propaganda outfit, funded by criminal means
Sure, money laundering is a serious crime but Yet Another Example of MAGA being a consciously criminal RICO enterprise is more troubling to me
@SidFudd @pluralistic my dad was a fan, bought his “doggerel” music and I caught the bug from him
We have a friend, now Prof Emerita, who had the luxury of an office near his in SC but she’s more into politics and high art like opera. (We both saw the SF premier of the very social commentary “Innocence” last weekend) so can’t pass on insights re his music
