Just got back from 2 weeks in Baja California Sur.

We for sure thought we heard eastern wood pee wee yesterday at the Los Barreilis waterfall (very distinct call). I did see several black phoebes soon after. Call is kinda similar.

In La Paz, house sparrows, house finches, white winged doves and Eurasian collared doves rule the city. Throw in gilia woodpeckers, verdin, and costa hummingbirds too.

Everywhere in the desert are crested caracara. Easy to spot. I did hear a pigmy owl in the mountains near rancho Santa Rita hot springs (Santiago).

Scuba diving - we saw cormorants diving beside Swanee Reef (isla espiritu santo) and chasing fish. Was spectacular to see underwater!

This brings back memories of good times and dancing. Used to see them with Sts9, Lotus and solo shortly after the turn of the century. I love this music.

Summer Tanager.

Today was the second time I went to try and locate this bird. There was also a female which is yellow / olive colored, not completely red like this male. Kinda made my day.

Ironically, the Rose-breasted Grosbeak is my bird of the day on Merlin. I set up the camera this morning and wondered if he would appear. After 20 mins I went inside with the gear (I teach high school). Looking out the window a few mins later, guess who showed up? I quickly reset for some captures. Here are 2.

The past few weeks, this Eastern Towhee has been singing his heart out from the top of the trees. When he stops, it’s usually to visit the feeders below.
