I posted a similar photo a couple of years ago of our local dairy. This one, taken this morning in a lovely morning light, is noticeable because the bank of red post office boxes that used to adorn the left-hand side of the diary is now gone. They have all been moved to Johnsonville. A sign of the times, but I still feel a sense of loss.

I'm rehabilitating two African Daisy plants that our neighborhood supermarket threw in the trash. Whether this is an example of compassion for all living things, a Charlie Brown-like empathy for those who are rejected, or just me not being able to pass up a bargain is left as an exercise for the reader.

A review of randomized controlled trials and prospective cohort studies (PCS) evaluating the effect of trans fats (TF) from dairy sources on cardiometabolic health found that, unlike manufactured TF, the dairy TF were not associated with lipid biomarkers of heart disease. The PCS also showed no association with stroke or type 2 diabetes.

Trans fats found naturally in dairy foods such as milk, butter, and cheese do not increase the risk of heart disease or type 2 diabetes, a new study has found. Researchers analyzed evidence from 22 studies involving thousands of people across Europe, Canada, and the United States and found that natural trans fats behave very differently in the body from the industrial kind. Unlike industrial trans fats, which are strongly linked to heart disease, those found in dairy appear to pose no risk.
