I take my son to the train station for hours to watch trains pass by. He loves it and I get emotional because it's where my grandparents would bring me 30 plus years ago

I mentioned mankind could fix a lot of problems by changing laws, changing who enforces those laws, and adding more safety nets to society. They seemed to agree in general, but I get the impression that the idea of doing all that is too daunting and they'd rather let God do it somehow.

And therein lies the problem, IMO. They're preaching that God says to do these things but then also throwing up their hands and saying well it's too hard and God will have to swoop in and save us from ourselves.
