We finally bunny-proofed the basement enough to let Deke enjoy some supervised exploration. He found the stairs especially compelling.

I ride from work to my son's school. I walk home with him from there pushing my bike. People use the pavement as their own personal parking space while their driveway is empty. If the pedal of my bike scratches your car because you're blocking half of the pavement. I'm not sorry.

Today I am stepping down from my role as the CEO of #Mastodon. Though this has been in the works for a while, I can't say I've fully processed how I feel about it. There is a bittersweet part to it, and I think I will miss it, but it also felt necessary. It feels like a goodbye, but it isn't—I intend to stay on and continue to advise the new leadership and contribute, because Mastodon—and the fediverse—is one of the very few beacons of hope for a better web.

THE AMAZING WORLD OF TOMORROW
@Kurtis_Clark yes, but admit, that self-driving on-demand e-scooters would be cool :-)
@xChaos @Kurtis_Clark
The Romans did it first.
@BlippyTheWonderSlug I was not talking about segway :-) rather self-driving away, when rider no longer needs it.. it would solve lot of problems and still much safer, than self driving cars. @Kurtis_Clark
@xChaos @BlippyTheWonderSlug @Kurtis_Clark hell nah, do you know how small the frontal cross-section of a riderless scooter would be, that would absolutely T-bone me when i cross the street on a bike
@wertzu1 this has to be self driving and don't do dangerous maneuvers. No fast movements. Overall inertia very low, can stop on spot. Much safer, than big, heavy self driving cars... @BlippyTheWonderSlug @Kurtis_Clark
@xChaos @BlippyTheWonderSlug @Kurtis_Clark well self driving cars stay close to roads, if self driving scooters go on the road, they get run over, if they go in the bike lanes they get kicked, and if they go on the walkways, they will land in the bottom of a river

@wertzu1 well, if self-driving scooters can't solve these issues, they won't survive, it is the evolution...

But maybe people would just accept them as cool stuff, if they are not just lying around. First of all, you would need lot less cars, if you can summon your self driving scooter from cell phone app... and then it would leave, when no longer needed.

It would be entirely different mobility culture.

@BlippyTheWonderSlug @Kurtis_Clark

@xChaos @BlippyTheWonderSlug @Kurtis_Clark welp, i'm excited to watch the rise and maybe the fall of self driving scooters
@Kurtis_Clark meanwhile, that food delivery robot sends camera footage to the cops.
@Kurtis_Clark plot twist, there are no humans anymore
@Kurtis_Clark who knew that the AMAZING WORLD OF TOMORROW would bring us the Robot Trolley Problem???
@Kurtis_Clark it's funny that the robots just stop at something while on duty and then don't know what to do
@Kurtis_Clark this is as god intended it to be
