The important thing about finding beauty in ruins isn't showing off where you've been or what a daredevil you are. It's not about being cool, to me at least.

It's the tacit acknowledgement that "functional" isn't the only normal state, that normalcy is in fact itself an illusion. Places are scarred by what they endure. So are people.

They are still worthy of love. Forgotten, silent, unacknowledged though they may be. Even with the scars, perhaps because of them. We still deserve understanding

Excuse me, pope, sir, I've got mary on line 2

It's 2024, I think it's about time that we all can be nice to each other ... Boost someone endorphins press the like button ... That's it ... If you like it, just press it ... Spread the love

The only thing that keeps Republicans up at night is their fear that government can be shown to work, which is why their every effort is devoted to trying to tear down and cripple working government programs, public education, decent healthcare, libraries, etc.
It's why Trump hopes the economy crashes. It's why the GOP won't actually vote for stronger border policies. It's why they defund the IRS.

There is no such thing as a self-made person.

Every business person has used our vast public infrastructure, which the taxpayers paid for, to make their money

It's not until the ninth paragraph that we learn that these violent political threats are coming almost entirely from Trump supporters. In fact (as the article makes clear much later), they're all directed at his declared enemies, and are celebrated by Trump and Republicans in congress. Bomb threats were called into 18 state capitols in just one day last week. This stochastic terrorism is a tactic of the right, used to undermine democracy. https://wapo.st/3TSQSj9
Violent political threats surge as 2024 begins, haunting American democracy

Bomb scares, swatting incidents and death threats targeting public officials have risen in frequency in recent weeks.

People really have to stop doing this. Yes, these overly broad efforts to attack drag performers and trans people will have some knock on effect on cis people doing the things that cis people do everyday, but the incredulous focus on where these laws will impact cis people is a deflection from the horror and trauma they are intentionally causing trans people and the larger 2SLGBTQIA community. This is about us, not you.
