If you have someone in your family/life/comments/whatever who thinks race is biological or even necessary (beyond the consequences created by these fabricated racial boundaries) and judge based on race; show them this.
@Awknddragn @rabbijill @heidilifeldman I can’t agree with the “evil” part (per my interpretation of good/evil and morality) but I can certainly agree that the people who pass these laws are insidious and absurdly out of touch with what their party actually stands for and what the people of the country support.
It’s far beyond time that we have a serious conversation with serious people about this serious topic. It’s not about abortion; it’s about control.
@fulanigirl this is an amazing thread, thank you for making it!
It is absolutely true that the school-to-prison pipeline starts with SROs and their authority over students, especially students of color.
The very best thing we can do for students is recognize that SRO presence is not warranted in an overwhelming majority of cases and that the real need is for a greater presence of student counselors to provide mental health support for those in distress.

I was reminded recently about a talk Dr. Monique Morris gave about Black girls getting pushed out of schools for disciplinary issues. This is very much connected to the issues of having police officers, code named – school resource officers, stationed in schools. Many studies have connected police in schools to the school-to-prison pipeline. Today, I’ll talk about the problems with cops in schools. 1/6
