@thanius @bagder it is weird but it was done to test compression /decompression with known blobs (I think) and since it was always like this, no one thought twice. I'd guess this kind of thing is being much more heavily scrutinized now.
@ebassi I can't tell if this sounds great or terrible lol.
@GeePawHill I've been thinking of doing this as well, I've grown to hate the Spotify app. But damn, that's a lot of music to steal, I mean, buy...

@fasterthanlime weird that they're going to rust now. They made the swift announcement in August 2024, Rust hasn't changed that much in that time.

I'd be worried about getting stuck in rewrite hell at this point and never making any forward progress.

@stib I had a similar experience. My 2070 super was on he way out (it was only a year old!) but it would idle at 100% GPU until, it couldn't run any games on windows. I installed popos 22.04 and squeezed another couple months out of the GPU just fine. I've never understood why this happened but my work laptop (windows) is now idling on 80% RAM usage so I guess it was just a prelude of what was to come.
@bagder it's amazing how we have so few names for things. When I googled "Gemini Test Server" I got this mailing list link. Had to Google "Gemini Server" to get the protocol.
@andrewrk oh, that's really cool actually.
@andrewrk my understanding of inline functions is that compilers are just better at this then us these days, what's the point of guaranteeing inlining?
@dazfuller the basic spelling mistakes make me think this might actually be a real person lol

@mr_harm the general arguments I always hear are;

big bloated monolothic application that doesn't follow Unix philosphy (never understood this one).

Logs are binary encoded instead of plaintext.

Big systemd is being pushed on us just like wayland!
