CT state troopers entered up to 60K fake tickets, issued to imaginary white people, to game a database designed to ferret out racial profiling. (And didn't enter real tickets issued to Black people.) One in 4 troopers were doing it. And it seems like nobody is being punished for this crime.

there once was a man from neutral
"fair", like "not bad", yet unfruitful
he stood for nothing
often both-sidesing
begging for some empty approval

The universe "hums" with gravitational waves that lie far outside the range of human experience. Their frequency is measured in decades; their wavelength is measured in light years.
The sound of the universe is approximately 37 octaves below middle C -- if you could hear it.

it's not that i dislike daylight
but early morning birds
have always sung the best lullabies,
and sinking into sleep
among dawn sunbeams
is a good way to stay out of the dark

Affirmative action was never about admitting unqualified Black kids. It was always about ensuring qualified Black kids could also get accepted despite a world of systemic racism.

The “unqualified admission” you’re thinking of are legacy students—like how Kavanaugh got into Yale, or how George W. got into yale, or how Kushner got into Harvard.

Every GOP accusation is a confession, and this is no exception.

me: ok, time to leave for my appointment

🧠: wait, do these 7 things real quick!

me: now?

🧠: yes! you feel that urgent energy for the appointment?

🧠: we’re gonna use that to get something else done

me: what about the appointment?

🧠: yeah, you’re gonna be late

The best way to skip the midlife crisis is to have a lifetime crisis.
If I write the right words in the right order, you people have to like me

between the neighbor's cherry blossoms
blooming in view just above their roof,
and the pastel violets and pinks
iced in winter's blue night sky,
a mood of melancholy and recollection;
a last chance missed
for faded reasons
and life lost past the sun set.

on the morning coast,
mourning most of what was,
or maybe wasn't, and regardless,
won't be again.
