Awesome. A Redditor emailed Ken Thompson about the UNICS to UNIX namechange. Actually got a reply https://www.reddit.com/r/unix/comments/1t826y8/emailed_ken_thompson_about_the_unics_to_unix/

I’ve published my Lisa filesystem access tool: https://github.com/eschaton/lisafs

It lets you list and extract the files in a Lisa filesystem, with automatic text file conversion. It supports both the flat Lisa OS 2.0 and the hierarchical Lisa OS 3.0 filesystems.

Right now it only works with Disk Copy 4.2 disk images but should be straightforward to extend to any other format that preserves page labels, e.g. raw 536-byte/sector ProFile dumps.

Open Source, MIT license.

Last night, this cool #GlobalTalk printout arrived.

I can totally relate (and also my wife *g*) :)

Whoa: <https://terathon.com/blog/decade-slug.html>

> What is now known as the Slug Algorithm for rendering fonts directly from Bézier curves on the GPU was developed in the Fall of 2016, so this year marks a full decade since its inception.

> Therefore, effective today, I am permanently and irrevocably dedicating the Slug patent to the public domain.

DAMN. That intro video for the MacBook Neo is 🔥

One of the best marketing videos Apple has ever done. Guessing these things are going to fly off the shelves.

Hello, MacBook Neo

YouTube

“I wanted the blue checkmark on LinkedIn. The one that says “this person is real.” In a sea of fake recruiters, bot accounts, and AI-generated headshots, it seemed like a smart thing to do.

So I tapped “verify.” I scanned my passport. I took a selfie. Three minutes later — done. Badge acquired. I felt a tiny dopamine hit of legitimacy.

Then I did what apparently nobody does. I went and read the privacy policy and terms of service.

Not LinkedIn’s. The other company’s”

They should announce a sequel to Groundhog Day and just re-release the original movie.
