Carl sagan’s thought about books:
“When our genes could not store all the information necessary for survival, we slowly invented them. But then the time came, perhaps ten thousand years ago, when we needed to know more than could conveniently be contained in brains. So we learned to
stockpile enormous quantities of information outside our bodies. We are the only species on the planet, so far as we know, to have
invented a communal memory stored neither in our genes nor in our brains. The warehouse of that memory is called the library. A book is made from a tree. One glance at it and you hear the voice of another person perhaps someone dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, the author is speaking, clearly and silently, inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people, citizens of distant epochs who never knew one another. Books break the shackles of time, proof that humans can work magic.”

Long ago in 1978, Chaosium founder Greg Stafford gave this advice in one of the first-ever adventures for #RuneQuest. A groundbreaking way to think about #TTRPG world-building —"the monsters are people too" — and still enriching how RuneQuest is written for and played today.

This is incredible! 😍

Okay, so the poll winner of our first #Shakespeare discussion group is #MACBETH ... oops, sorry, the #scottishplay

The production we will be discussing: Trevor Nunn's masterful recorded stage production starring #IanMcKellen and #JudiDench. If you can give it a look in whole or in part before the 25th, great. If not, no biggie...

ANY #SHAKESPEARENERD CAN JOIN. Let me know if you want to be on this Zoom call.

20+ Knitters and Crochet Artists Stitch an Astonishing 3‑D Recreation of Picasso’s Guernica

Softness is perhaps not the first quality that springs to mind when one imagines recreating the chaos and anguish of Picasso’s Guernica in a 3-dimensional representation. Though how else to describe the primary medium of the urban knitting group Sul filo dell’arte?

I wonder how the nature of social media has changed the way we think and interact with each other. Does chasing bigger and bigger numbers of followers genuinely improve your experience, or the quality of interactions? I can imagine past a certain point it becomes simply an abstract idea of "success." I like to follow people from different backgrounds and places because I want to see perspectives different to my own. For me, the wonder of the internet is having access to such great diversity.

Hey #Shakespeare nerds... I will be running a discussion group on one of the following plays in late December. If we can align the schedules, might have a video call.

"Like" if you want to participate. Then vote on the play you want to geek out about....
