usmu 🍋🏳️🌈🤟Today, in order to explain why ISDN was a big deal I had to explain dial up internet to a colleague. Which wasn't much of a suprise as she was born in the current century and hasn't got a single geeky bone in her body. It did make me feel old though.
Also: there must be a Carl Sagan apple pie/universe joke here somewhere, but my old fogged up brain can't seem find it. Feel free to make up one.
JdeBPFor the technically minded, the name for such numbers is 'normal numbers'. Not much is known about the relationship between the transcendentals and the normals, or even whether some common algebraics are normal.
So the thing about π at the end of Carl Sagan's Contact, if true, may be either profound or trivial.
