Last weekend was not the most fun I’ve ever had on a bike. In fact, it was kind of a slog…the redeeming factor being that it was a slog aboard my bike. Sometimes that’s just the way it goes.

When Leslie (my partner) got a city cruiser in 2017, it was the first time in 10 years she’d been on a bike. Inside of three years, she was climbing mountains and riding hundreds of kilometers per year.

I remember when someone I knew casually said, “Oh yeah, that’s like a 300k ride. That’s doable.” And I looked at them like they were crazy.
It doesn’t seem crazy to me anymore, but that’s sort of how really long rides go. People doing the 800k of @badlandscc in a single go seems crazy to me…but I’m trying to do a 600k ride for the first time this year, and after I hit that milestone…maybe it won’t seem so wild anymore.
