The Sentinel 65X board by @mos_8502 arrived - and it's doing ... something ... that seems consistent with its ROM test code. 🤓

Not sure what possesses people to do a "compact" design like this. No idea of the notion of mechanical stress whatsoever?

Going to be modifying this, so the DB9 is cabled and connected to a little box with the PCB and PS/2 connector, that I can put somewhere in the back.

(And yes, I do have an original 1351 mouse, but I don't want to wear it down.)

What does it mean? 🤯

I... I did it. I found a set of flashlights that turn On and Off. That's it. 🥲

No 5 level of brightness to cycle through. No stroboscope effect that no one asked for, ever.

An elegant device, from a more civilized time.

Suspect the kid's turning out alright.

The resistor, though scarred, still measures within spec, but this supposedly 10 nF cap is a total goner.

While not shorted at DMM measurement levels, it might be that at a high voltage it just acts as a resistor/furnace...

These will need to be replaced for sure.

Most of the soot has been cleaned off with IPA, in order to be able to read the values.
