If you're in England, your #NHS medical data is due to be shared with #PeterThiel's military surveillance firm #Palantir.

Fyi, Palantir have already been using their access to US medical records to target people for #ICE, and #ReformUK have published their plans for ICE UK...

In case you — like me — object to this in the strongest of terms, the @goodlawproject have put together this handy tool to check your local NHS Trust's position, and to say no to this.

Say no to Palantir in the NHS

NHS England is rolling out software to run our health records from Palantir - fight back

No to Palantir

I would like to give away my Novation LaunchKey 37 MK3.

Does anyone know any charity (working with kids, for example), group or individual that this could help to? Personal recommendations are much appreciated.

Fully functional, few minor scratches that do not affect the functionality.

Within EU due to fees and easier shipping in general (I’ll take care of that).

Thank you for sharing ❤️

Guess I'm on #crack now...

Went lead #climbing and saw this new feaure for crack climbing and gave it a go. Lots of fun with fist jams, hand jams, and finger jams! Definitely doing more of this!

For some reason I always found pinball displays so magical as a kid. I didn't know it then, but that magnificent orange glow in them was the result of their technology; the gas discharge or plasma displays. The display glass is filled with gas, that reacts to high voltage electricity by glowing orange.

The technology was originally used only as bunch of 7-segments in one glass element, with later upgrade being the 14 segment displays for displaying text. Some years later the dot matrix displays enabled the games to show low resolution graphics on the screen as well.

A feature of the technology is that these displays have a finite life span. Impurities can ruin the gas or it can just slowly leak, making the display harder and harder to light up, until it's completely dead.

Since these things haven't been manufactured in decades, nowdays we have pretty realistic looking LED based ones to keep those old pins in action.

Because it's weird, right? You're dreaming of being upside down in a flaming boat made of fingernails, talking to a bat who's also your mother, and be all like "Yup, this is fine"

Here's why

Fascinating article on how and why Japan largely missed a generation of digitisation, and are now finally working to catch up.

Japan used to be a tech giant. Why is it stuck with fax machines and ink stamps?

When you think of Tokyo, you might think of neon-lit skyscrapers and its world-famous bullet train system, or films like “Akira” and “Ghost in the Shell” that depict a futuristic Japan filled with intelligent robots and holograms.

“Privatisation was the experiment — and it’s failed. We have water companies pumping sewage into our rivers and charging us extra for the privilege.”
