I live in "war ravaged" Portland, Oregon (well technically a suburb thereof) and I'm an obsessive gardener. If it's and outdoor green plan I have probably either grown it or want to. I post plant pictures (with alt text) over on Instagram under Passionatepropagator. And yes that was a bad name choice. I also enjoy reading, sewing, knitting and swimming (old, fat and slow master's swimmer) and hating on Trump and his evil minions.
Trillium kurabayashii x albidum. My own hybrid. I'm not convinced they aren't just color variants of the same species because they cross so easily. #BloomScrolling
Narcissus bulbocodium or close relative thereof. Seed grown.
A part of my garden. Blue pulmonaria, pink corydalis, yellow flowering hellebores and a pop of red from a Cowichan primrose. #BloomScrolling
If little upstart Mastodon can make it almost delightfully easy to add alt text to your pictures why can't Meta? Instagram gives you this scrolling text box that doesn't allow you to see everything you've written and Facebook is the multi click process. It's a general pain in the ass. People on Mastodon also actually include alt text, probably because the tag is a reminder. I like to read what others write. Bonus content for posts. #a11y #disability
Ceanothus pumilus is native to the Siskiyou Mountains in Oregon. It creeps along the ground in habitat. This is my second attempt at growing it having killed off the first one in my sand bed front yard. Oops. I hope to take cuttings from this plant and try it somewhere else. #BloomScrolling #RockGardening
Corydalis malkensis at a friend's house. She has it seeding all over her troughs. I've had trouble establishing it but last year she gave me some corms and this time they took. I'm looking forwards to having lots of this little ephemeral beauty in the future.

Erythronium multiscapideum in my crevice garden. I haven't been able to get any seeds from it even with hand pollination so this year I bought three additional very spendy plants and hand pollinated again. I'm hoping they just need to out cross for seeds. This plant is always my first erythronium to bloom. If you think it looks a lot like a tulip that's because they are close relatives.

Until we got our new car (2025) all my car required of me was accelerate, steer and brake. Yes it was complicated under the hood but I didn't have to futz with that.

I don't hate linux but when someone starts talking about "dependencies, binaries, Flatpaks, packages" etc. I'm lost. I'm not making up "silly stuff", I'm just pointing out that for some of us linux would be really, really difficult to deal with. I didn't grow up using a computer. Didn't touch one until my late 30's.

Amaryllis (technically hippeastrum) of the Dutch flavor blooming it's fool head off with four stems! #bloomScrolling
Did anyone else love Susan Orlean’s memoir “Joyride”? The title is so perfect for this book. I picked it up from the library and immediately threw aside the book I was reading. I loved “The Orchid Thief” when it came out and now I know why. She puts so much work into what she writes. Every word and sentence is carefully chosen with nothing essential left out and nothing unneeded left in. I wouldn’t have thought a memoir about writing could be this engrossing. #literature #books
