sssiv - all the time (from "sssiv 2", May 8, PCC0023DR)

dreampop - neo-psych - indie folk (copenhagen / los angeles)

https://sssiv.bandcamp.com/track/all-the-time-2

“All the Time” began, like all songs on sssiv 2, as an improvisation: a quiet conversation between Stephen’s sparse bass line and Sasha’s droning, minimalist guitar, unfolding over Sara’s steady, danceable drum groove. The track carries an upbeat yet quietly melancholic atmosphere - warm, spacious, dreamlike - with a certain sense of softness, calm and reassurance.

single release today ♡

"at its core, the record treats rhythm as architecture. every instrument acts as percussion, each with its own colour and instability, orbiting around Høi’s asymmetric drumming and Sok’s unmistakable voice"

catcase - "as it reels" (PCC0021) - album out today

CPH-based jangle, sophisti-pop, doom pop

pain-soaked pop stretched towards the grand and the atmospheric - music for listeners drawn to epic strains of alternative pop: think The Go-Betweens’ “Tallulah” or Spiritualized’s “Ladies & Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space”

thanks for listening <3
catcase - "a ring" (feb 6)

an upbeat, uplifting jangle-pop track, perhaps partly influenced by the romantic guitar-pop of the go-betweens and the verlaines, with bright, chiming guitars, restless melodic bass, balancing resignation with the bittersweet and infectious

debut album "as it reels" out feb 20 (PCC0021)

Osvald from Taxidermy reached out to me about 8-9 months ago and explained that they were already planning to release an EP as a follow-up to "Coin" at the beginning of the new year. I explained that this simply wasn’t possible time-wise. I’m incredibly happy that it turned out to be a possibility after all – because even though Coin was an incredibly good EP, Taxidermy has made some huge leaps with this new release that I never even imagined possible in such a short time…..

"Impending" is a complex, brooding post-rock/post-hardcore composition that significantly expands the band’s sonic palette and artistic ambitions. Throughout "Impending", the Copenhagen-based band shifts between ethereal, melancholic soundscapes and warped, abrasive passages that recall the noisy, hardcore-infused sound associated with Steve Albini and his affiliates. The track is a bold, atmospheric and emotionally charged piece that serves as a powerful introduction to what’s to come from "Let Go".

Hey friends,

Today is a day I’ve really been looking forward to: We’re releasing Zeki Jindyl’s first single, 'Only Me', from his upcoming debut album, STRETCH//RELATIONS. Big congrats to Zeki.

The track conveys an organic airiness, space, and almost spiritual atmosphere somewhat akin to David Sylvian and classic ECM releases - with high priority given to texture, sound design and the artistic integration of silence - while seamlessly integrating contemporary deconstructed RnB, subtle traces of Arabic folk, and the epic compositional avant-metal of Kayo Dot.

Due to some technical issues, the single is a few days delayed on streaming services, but you can listen to and purchase it on Bandcamp and Nina Protocol. Link in bio.

Thanks for listening.

Best,
Nikolaj

Friends,

Second post on here to kindly inform you that we have a new single release coming your way: The third and final single, 'I Thank Thee Whom I Found in the Hills' (February 21), from @Homesickness upcoming album, Anamnesis (March 21).

Fifty-three years after Sibylle Baier released her song, “I Lost Something in the Hills,” Malthe Junge, songwriter in Homesickness, was moved to pen a response: “While Baier’s song seems to lament a metaphysical object - something intangible yet significant - that she lost,” Junge explains, “my interpretation transforms this object into a presence; to me, it represents a being or entity embodying healing and care.”

Malthe is an amazing songwriter (with an incredibly talented band...). The new album brims with emotion and creativity. Subtle traces of Laughing Stock-esque post-rock, tape-based ambient experimentation, slowcore.... Besides, of course, plenty of threads to seriously hard-to-find, mystical, almost pagan-like '60s/'70s folk. Not the kind of thing that's released in Denmark every week. Highly (!) recommended.

Remember to join the release event March 21 at Christianhavns Beboerhus. Link to presave single in bio.

Best (and enjoy your weekend),
Nikolaj
