Banning renewable energy projects is one of the stupidest, most self-destructive things I can imagine, but it’s happening all over the US. While I expected some red states and counties, Vermont and Connecticut have also effectively banned new wind projects. It’s madness. Shame on them, especially states that claim to be green and do that. https://www.usatoday.com/story/graphics/2024/02/27/renewable-energy-sources-ban-map/72630315007/

Former President Trump on Monday urged the Supreme Court to keep his federal election subversion criminal trial on hold as he appeals a ruling that he doesn’t have immunity from the charges. In 1963 Gallup asked white Americans if they believed Black Americans received equal treatment in education, employment, & housing?

In 1963 Jim Crow Segregation was legal. Redlining was legal. Racial discrimination in employment was legal.

Yet—67% of White Americans said YES😳

In random nature news: we now have a possum who regularly likes to stroll through the backyard at night, and drink from the water bowls I leave out for the squirrels.

It's been a good excuse to read up on possums, and I've definitely developed a newfound appreciation for them.

Gaiman: " If you really can't figure out which political party or which politician to vote for, just ask if they're on the side of libraries. Are they voting to fund their libraries? Are they voting to keep them free? Then vote for those guys. They're probably the good guys. And by the same token, the book burners, the book banners, they're probably the bad guys."
