With our friends at @openscapes, we’re digging into the best strategies for opening #climate #research #datasets in our upcoming webinar on June 3.
Join us for a conversation about open approaches to climate data and a discussion about licenses & legal terms that will increase access. https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJEkdOupqjkoGt2JSO8VE7Zs8LLfn7Skmvl0#/registration
Open science, open practices, and open licenses are essential in working together to increase access to research and to address global challenges. At Creative Commons, we’ve been focusing our open science program on finding faster, more equitable, and open solutions that are necessary to address climate change. Our Open Climate Campaign, a project in partnership with SPARC and Electronic Information for Libraries (EIFL), is focused on policy, international frameworks, and opening up published research. Our Open Climate Data project facilitates the opening and sharing of large climate datasets and climate data models around the world. To ensure our work is as impactful as possible, our goal is to connect with the research community to discuss open practices and approaches to climate research. We’ve partnered with the team at Openscapes to bring you a webinar that will outline Creative Commons’ recommendations for better sharing of climate data. Join us for a conversation that will focus on applicable solutions to opening climate data with CC licenses. This webinar is designed for researchers but is open to anyone interested in learning more about open license recommendations for climate data.
🎙️ We were recently featured on the Climate[dot]edu podcast to talk about all things #OpenAccess #openlicense & the need to profile the role of #open in addressing the #climatecrisis

Our contribution to the Year of #OpenScience #YOS Conference - an outline of the elements of a strong #OA policy:
💫 #immediateOA with a CC BY license
💫 An #openlicense (CC0) for #researchdata & deposit in a #datarepository
💫 adherence to the FAIR & CARE principles
Learn more about how we are applying these recommendations via our #OpenClimate Campaign
