@AtanasE as I mentioned before, filegeodatabase is well supported on QGIS now.

How equitably are speed limits distributed between neighbourhoods? Taking Barcelona as a case study, my new article shows that:
- Average speed limits are much higher in some neighbourhoods than others
- Speed limits are significantly related to neighbourhood motorisation🚗 rate

From a distributional justice perspective, I suggest that neighbourhoods with high speed limits but low car ownership should be considered a priority for traffic calming strategies🚸

Is the common perception that Barcelona's two-way ↔️ bike lanes are more dangerous that one-way ➡️ ones justified?

My latest research article 📰 📊 suggests that probably NOT: https://findingspress.org/article/132491-are-two-way-bike-lanes-really-more-dangerous

➼ Ultimately, both one- and two-way bike lanes can be equally safe/dangerous. What REALLY matters are specific design characteristics (e.g. intersections, width, separation)

Are Two-way Bike Lanes Really More Dangerous? | Published in Findings

By Samuel Nello-Deakin. This article compares cyclist injury rates between one-way and two-way bike lanes in Barcelona, finding no conclusive evidence that two-way bike lanes are more dangerous than one-way ones.

📃New article out evaluating resident views on #pedestrianisation:
🟩66% of local residents supportive of Barcelona's recently pedestrianised green axes , based on results of representative survey (n=1,211)
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0197397524001176
- Majority support also among residents of non-pedestrianised streets
-Support for pedestrianisation declines markedly with age
-Public transport🚎 and cycling🚲 use increases support for pedestrianisation, while the contrary is true for car🚗 and motorbike 🏍️use

Jonction: la rue des Rois se transforme en parking

Le récent aménagement piéton de la rue des Rois, qui se veut un modèle, fait régulièrement l’objet d’un usage non prévu à cet effet, comme on dit.

Why did the pandemic not entail more of a permanent shift towards low-carbon urban mobility? 🚲🚶🏽🌆
In our new paper (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2590198224000460) , we identify 4 main barriers to transformative change:
1) Difficulty of implementing measures in uncertain context of unfolding pandemic
2) Lack of political courage
3) Limited administrative capacity
4) Reluctance to use temporary/tactical designs

Oh my! I've found my new favorite website of all time: https://cyclingfallacies.com/

A list of all kinds of uninformed reasons people give for not making it safer and easier to bike, with rebuttals. This is exactly the kind of thing the internet is useful for!

It's available in many languages, and you can help translate it. The content is CC licensed. It's great!

Thanks to the fantastic podcast Bike Talk for letting me know about it!
