Leaders of the U.S.House of Representatives & the head of the United States Postal Service today unveiled the new stamp honoring late civil rights leader, Rep. John R. Lewis. The stamp design features a 2013 photograph of the Georgia Democrat taken by Marco Grob for Time magazine.

I have to confess, nowadays I think of Coltrane, perhaps unfairly, as a younger person's saxophonist. The fervent anguished seeker. He belongs on the shelf with Hesse's Siddhartha, Kerouac's On the Road or The Dharma Bums, and Salinger's Catcher in the Rye.
The older I get, the more I lean toward the composers: Wayne Shorter, Ornette Coleman, et al.
Elvin Jones, as ever, is a monster on this album.
