Finally, asexual representation in Doctor Who

If you’re developing web sites that only run in Google Chrome, you are not a web developer, you’re a web destroyer.

adulthood is putting off showering every day despite the fact that the moment you get in you don't want to leave, and the moment you leave you promise yourself not to procrastinate it again.

what if we socialized on an open and free platform without corporations monetizing our existense? from different websites and apps and platforms entirely?

#fediverse

Just had someone asking why I'm so worried about Meta/Facebook's involvement in the Fediverse. Have people forgotten what they have done?

"Facebook owner Meta’s dangerous algorithms and reckless pursuit of profit substantially contributed to the atrocities perpetrated by the Myanmar military against the Rohingya people"

https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2022/09/myanmar-facebooks-systems-promoted-violence-against-rohingya-meta-owes-reparations-new-report/

"Facebook ‘lets vigilantes in Ethiopia incite ethnic killing’"

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2022/feb/20/facebook-lets-vigilantes-in-ethiopia-incite-ethnic-killing

"Facebook must pay a record-breaking $5 billion fine as part of a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission, by far the largest penalty ever imposed on a company for violating consumers' privacy rights."

https://eu.usatoday.com/story/tech/news/2019/07/24/facebook-pay-record-5-billion-fine-u-s-privacy-violations/1812499001/

Do we want the Fediverse to be like this?

Meta/Facebook has a consistent track record of doing terrible things despite knowing they harm (and possibly kill) people. They know this is going on but they don't care: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ryanmac/growth-at-any-cost-top-facebook-executive-defended-data#.yuervQD6D

The Fediverse should be shunning Meta/Facebook by any means at our disposal.

People SUFFER + DIE from POVERTY: lack of access to healthcare, scarcity of affordable housing, substandard wages + hunger every day. Black + Brown people go missing daily. Racist encounters can often be fatal. Funny, I don't hear massive calls "for compassion" for their suffering. The 1% definitely don't give a damn. If they did society would look very different. But when billionaires, who due to their own hubris and foolishness, voluntarily take dangerous risks with their own lives, then pay the ultimate price - suddenly there are calls for "compassion and grace." To be the "better person." Folks, people are TIRED of struggling to survive amidst gross social, racial, and economic inequality. The 1% made their fortunes from the literal blood, sweat, and tears of human beings they believe are beneath them. Whether we agree or not with how it's expressed, people have the right to react to karma visiting the rich in any way they choose.
