Looking for a postdoc in experimental evolution? You're very welcome to apply to this position in my group, at University Paris-Saclay.

The goal is to study the evolutionary and plastic response of the transcriptome to stable vs fluctuating environments, in the model fungus Zymoseptoria tritici.

Women scientists at famed oceanography institute have half the lab space of men

The gap can’t be ā€œexplained awayā€ by funding or seniority, says Scripps Institution of Oceanography report

I've never seen a #California #golden #trout in person, but I'd love to some day. Until then, I'm glad to hear about these #conservation efforts – which will doubtless protect other species in this amazing #meadow #habitats as well.

(Did you know there are eight trout species in the #Sierra #Nevada?)

I was randomly browsing some posters in the anthropology department hallway, and there was something that caught my attention: human babies consume maternal body tissue, and for a while that puts them pretty much at the top of the food web. It's different from other larvae/juveniles who would be at a lower trophic position from the adult forms.

#AGU22 is the huge Earth science meeting, with 25,000 scientists. Talks and posters detail the breaking down of our Earth in real time. They are terrifying. So @[email protected] and I stepped outside extremely strong norms and urged scientists to take a stand.

Update: I was fired. I loved working at ORNL's Climate Change Science Institute and am devastated, but am also more determined and hopeful than ever. We have incredible power to affect change together.🌱

I still plan to continue with both research & activism, to the extent possible.

To my wonderful colleagues: My temporary affiliation is LSCE. Please use my personal rather than my work email, which I no longer have access to. Thank you for all of the support so far ā™„ļø

I knew that I could face retaliation, but inaction during this critical time will have far greater consequences.

Do we realize how lucky we are to have such fantastic activists? They understand the politics, the society and the science, and they have the deepest respect for democracy and law.

ā€˜Disruptive’ science has declined — and no one knows why

The proportion of publications that send a field in a new direction has plummeted over the last half-century.
