@jonny What's your opinion on Singularity? I just started needing to use containers for part of my PhD project, and the software I want is most easily used bundled into a singularity image.
@The_Tim These are interesting. They look less immediately alien because they're bugs, so we can forgive, e.g., the weird hand anatomy. On the other hand, I wonder whose art the AI is lifting from. The insects are drawn in the style you'd expect from a scientific illustrator, but there are a bunch of scientific illustrators who do furry/anthro art of insects on the side.

So, I guess I should re-introduce myself. I'm Matt, a 6th-year PhD student in Erica Westerman's lab at the University of Arkansas. I'm interested in the evolutionary ecology of invertebrate visual systems and sensory integration. I'm currently also studying how the model butterfly Bicyclus anynana learns mate preferences.

I was mjosmurphy, but I've made a new account after deactivating my old one.

Folks interested in social equity who work in data science will want to take note: the publishers of RStudio have reached a formal business agreement with Palantir, the espionage and cyberweapons company. The owner of Palantir, Peter Thiel, has said that democracy and freedom are incompatible with each other, and that poor people's lives are inherently worth less than those of rich people. Consider finding an alternative to RStudio as a data analysis IDE.
