ADS SHIT IN YOUR HEAD
🔇

"Advertising [...]is a visceral, powerful form of pollution that not only affects our common public and cultural spaces, but also our deeply private intimate spaces. Advertisers want your 'brain time' -- to shit in your head without your knowledge. We want to stop them." --Bill Posters, Brandalism

Use this teeny weeny site-specific sticker to spread the good word about the mute button, available for purchase over email at [email protected] for more discreet orders or on our etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1518054775/

Did you know that the second blank button on the right column mutes the ads playing on your gas station monitor? Try it today, and even better: let others know they don't have to be bombarded with GTV or other corporate nonsense blaring out at them every time they need to fill their car.

The gas company is not content to price gouge you after arranging your place of living to keep you dependent on their product: they wanted to make your life slightly worse and collect extra money by selling your time at the pump. Did you get a cut? No of course not!

These are 1x1.5cm stickers, kiss cut so they are very easy to peel off of the paper backing. They are "eggshell stickers" that are incredibly difficult to remove. See more info at the printer's website, including a video showing how difficult they are to remove here: https://www.eggshellstickers.com/about

I used to say that the most important thing to remember about Zoom is that everyone wants to see your cat, but now the most important thing to remember is that Zoom is going to use your Zoom sessions to train AI which is a great reason to stop using Zoom.

Zoom's updated Terms of Service permit training AI on user content without Opt-Out

Zoom Video Communications, Inc. recently updated its Terms of Service to encompass what some critics are calling a significant invasion of user privacy.

Stack Diary

Zoom's terms of service now include training GenAI with no ability to opt out

Check sections:
- 10.2 Service Generated Data; Consent to Use
- 10.4 Customer License Grant
- 16.2 Ownership of Zoom Property

Edit: included other sections of ToS

People keep going all doomer when they realise there’s no legal way to make things better and they just quit, like they’ve never considered that’s when it’s time to start breaking laws.

Peaceful protest is to let the people you’re protesting know you have the numbers that if they don’t start doing what you ask that you can unleash your inner Ron Pearlman, and when they ignore you, because they will ignore you, you must then unleash your inner Ron Pearlman

I’ve spent much of this year examining car bloat, the process through which smaller vehicles are being replaced by increasingly massive SUVs and trucks.

What I’ve learned: Huge cars are terrible for society, often in ways that are hidden.

Some basic facts:
â—† >80% of US car sales are now trucks/SUVs.
â—† Models keep expanding. For example, the F-150 is now ~800 lbs heavier and 7 inches taller than in 1991.
â—† EVs can make the problem worse due to huge batteries.

Want to see what a CO2 chart for an office meeting with about 12 people for one hour looks like? We start with excellent indoor air quality at 9am with 500ppm of CO2.

After one hour in a poorly ventilated space, the CO2 readings are 1720ppm! And this is a fairly spacious office that would have a bit of air reservoir to slow down the rise in CO2 levels.

Yikes! This means everyone is breathing quite a bit out of each other's lungs. If you're only going to wear a mask in the riskiest situations, this should be one of them.

Keep in mind that just having high CO2 concentrations doesn't mean much unless someone is contagious in the room, but if there was someone contagious that day, lots of people in that meeting would have gotten whatever was being passed into the air be it Covid, flu, RSV, or a cold.

I was talking to my mom last night and she wanted to make sure I knew and remembered a story about my great grandfather, who grew up in Jacksonville, TX. He was very lucky to escape being tarred and feathered by the #KKK and having his store burned down in the 1930s. His awful crime? He served black women and respectfully called them by their full name, i.e. Mrs Johnson instead of just Annie. That’s all it took to get on the list back then. That’s less than 100 years ago.
Protests are supposed to be disruptive. Pass it on.
