The human race is addicted to burning fossil fuels to the detriment to life on Earth. Carbon dioxide emissions have been released in large quantities since the start of the industrial revolution. The level now seen in the atmosphere has not been at such a level since before the start of this current series of ice ages around 2.58 million years ago. The implications are that parts of the planet will become uninhabitable and there will be mass extinctions of different forms of life which may include Homo sapiens. (S&P)
