So the #Maharashtra governor has recommended President’s rule. There will be only one political party rejoicing over this development and that says much about how damaging the Congress’ dithering has been.
@Shudraism Agree. Denying oxygen to the toxic flames around is critical, even if it means enlisting the services of a co-arsonist. It sounds both absurd and sensible even as if I type this!
Must say I am torn on whether the Congress should have any truck with the Sena in #maharashtra. Sure, it would mean an ideological compromise (past dalliances notwithstanding) but the alternative - of not seeing an opposition government installed - possibly has graver long-term implications for sustaining the same values that the Congress reluctance is said to be upholding.
@Khalidfaridi To the extent that the BJP has been outsmarted, indeed humbled. Striking a winning posture has been part of their mental disintegration tactics for a while now, and the jolt was needed to give a much needed sense of opposition.
A bilious campaign. A broken structure. Crude triumphalism. A fatiguing trial. At the end, diseased minds, broken hearts, numb consciences. Healing won’t be easy. #AYODHYAVERDICT
#India Name that one person you would really like to see on #Mastodon. And that one person you think this platform will be better without. No explanations needed. My own answers: Arundhati Roy and Amitabh Bachchan, respectively.
@jamewils The problem with atonement is that the onus is on the perpetrator to define/ concede the degree of injury inflicted and suitable reparations for it. It - atonement - can be powerful in the hands of a Gandhi but mere tokenism - and insulting - in the hands of base beings.
