Hey there! I'm someone who loves trying out different open-source software, creating awesome graphic designs, 3D printing cool stuff, making animations, and writing. My biggest passion is creating top-notch security products. I'm really interested in the nitty-gritty details of technology and privacy issues. I believe that if product management and security teams work together, we can make amazing products that solve big problems. Right now, I'm done with my graduate studies and can't wait to attend more BSides and other events in the near future.

Wow. I went to download the Arc browser on a recommendation. It not only dims my screen to play a video that has no meaningful content, but wants me to set up an account, promising it's private, so I can sync tabs before it will let be use it.

I have bounced harder off software, I'm sure of it, but only because it wanted to run as root to install anti-copying crap on my computer.

[Update: Apparently, the software is EoL, but you wouldn't know that ... see replies + thanks @FeloniousPunk

Advocates for the immigrant families conducted site visits at the detention centers in Dilley and Karnes, Texas. Families shared testimony detailing medical failures, dirty drinking water, and the psychological effects on their children of prolonged detention. The court filing made Friday evening is attempting to persuade a federal court not to terminate a 90s era policy that requires safe and sanitary conditions for immigrant children in federal custody.

ICE (….or the hired bounty hunters ICE has hired because yeah….) were trying to kidnap civilians around #Bellflower and #Pasadena today.

In Pasadena, a group of people literally followed 3 different ICE trucks around the ENTIRE PASADENA AREA honking their horns and using megaphones to alert EVERYONE to their presence. They did not relent the entire time. They eventually left the area.

In Bellflower, 20 miles south, however… *the citizens were not as kind. Thats all I’ll say for that one. lol.

@samiamsam @w7voa ICE would have a lot of trouble stopping cars on the way out of the stadium in a state where it is now nearly impossible to get drivers to stop for pedestrians at marked crosswalks. Seriously though, with their lack of uniforms and IDs, I'd classify them as "a homeless person asking for a handout at best and a carjacker at worse". Or as a new incarnation of one of the squeegee guys who were bothering drivers in New York City.

@crazyeddie @samiamsam @w7voa Just in case it wasn't clear, the classification I was referring to was the one I'd make as a driver. If ICE guys want to be treated like law enforcement, they should wear uniforms, badges with IDs, etc., so we can distinguish them from the squeegee guys and others whose only goal is to separate you from whatever cash you have with you.

@bzdev @samiamsam @w7voa I was referring to the fact that there are people being dragged away by masked "officers" and ICE saying they weren't there. Saw an article last night of a 20 year old kid grabbed by "ICE" and his mom can't find him and ICE says they don't have him. He's a citizen.

We have no way of knowing that's ICE.

And in fact, in this case we might be seeing an example of this. I just saw an article about this with ICE again claiming they have nobody in the area.

I've always seen USA politicians bleating about "small government" - yet they suddenly have all these feds from nowwhere.

if they aren't carrying proper badges, what, if anything, prevents ICE and other agencies from simply deputising the Proud Boys, handing them guns and uniforms and letting them pick off whoever they wanted (like in the "Wild West"?)

Or indeed fash just taking matters into their own hands.

Even here in England I can buy hidden flashing blue lights for my car from Amazon no questions asked (as well as the amber ones maintenance crews are allowed to use), and there's already problems here with folk being robbed/attacked by fake cops..
