CNBC: abortion laws are affecting students' decisions about where to attend college.

Not mentioned: if access to reproductive health care is important to enough students' decisions, Dobbs (and states' responses to it) will exacerbate existing "red" vs. "blue" state disparities in university-level resources, hasten the demise of the colleges and universities in anti-choice states that are already struggling to meet enrollment targets.

I can’t stop thinking about the Afghan girls Robotic team knows as Afghan Dreamers. The girls with minimal resources were able to design and build low cost ventilators and their expertise were used during Covid crisis. Roya, a member of Afghan dreamers was ranked among Time’s 100 most influential people for her work in building internet classrooms in Afghan high schools.

For thousands of years, fermenting beer was considered a household task for #women.

By the Middle Ages, some sold beer at English markets. Female brewers wore tall, pointy hats to be easily spotted. They stood by cauldrons & often had cats to keep mice away.

Sound familiar? It should.

You see, when male brewers felt threatened, they accused the women of witchcraft. These rumors may have led to some witch iconography we still recognize today.

Today, beer is marketed to men and the industry is run by men. It wasn’t always that way.

Also, even if you're not there substantively anymore, a good time to rerun Fedifinder (or similar tools) to see how many folks have transitioned since you last checked, since those tools will likely be *much* harder to use reliably very soon https://fedifinder.glitch.me/

How books get scanned.

My dumbass always pictured an old librarian with gloves at the copy/scanning machining having to redo it over and over because it scanned crooked.
