#newyearsresolution for 2023: Ditch the quantifiable or single-achievement goals and instead try to build daily habits where any progress is a win in an effort to make me a better me TO ME - to get me closer to the me I want to be.
So the habits I want to build are:
1) #meditate
2) Practice #ukulele
3) Practice #German
4) #read
5) Indulge in any #Hobby
6) #exercise
7) Feel #gratitude
I figure if I can do these things on a daily basis, there’s a good chance I’ll come out of 2023 smiling.

Progress is being made. Some of you #crossstitchersofmastodon are absolutely amazing at #crossstitch and here I am, currently tackling a monochrome thing and taking an eternity. But at least it’s a fun thing to look forward to at the end of the day…
A friend shared a superstition that whatever you do on 1 Jan, you’re destined to do more of than usual throughout the year. It’s for this reason that she doesn’t clean anything on that day.
I tested it for a few years and here’s what I found:
1) I didn’t see more or less activity for the things I did that day BUT
2) If you fill a day with only things you would want to do more of throughout the year, you’re going to have a pretty great day.
Give it a shot in 2023.

I can’t shave because my beard grows hairs that splinter when cut, get ingrown, infected, and sometimes it gets bad enough to require surgery. It’s gross.
But my wife complains about my scruff all the time. So I grew a mustache to go with the scruff (also hated) and shaved it all off for Christmas so at least she can kiss a smooth face for a day.
At first it was “you just look… different,” but by the end of the day she told me to regrow everything and that it turns out she actually likes it.

Here I am again in the plasma chair after being denied a couple times for either lack of hydration or too high of a pulse. And all to help people who need plasma, but admittedly, because aNueNue has that sweet hummingbird tenor #ukulele

We want to have fun and dress up sometimes and stay at home on our couches sometimes and have a life that is fulfilling and in which we aren't constantly in fear of murder or harassment. This is not new and it's not radical and it's not harming you or anyone else to ask for it.

I’m at 19:23 on my #crossstitch outline. I’ll finish the path I’m on and then clean it up a little (thank god the end result is going to be a simple two colors!) and then I’ll get a picture.
