From a newsletter I just unsubscribed from. What in the ever loving heck is this fresh garbage! I don't think I'll want to be using Stripe any time soon...

"Technology is neutral," you say?

Counterexample: Ageless Linux.

It shines a glaring spotlight on other OSs and their acceptance of bad age verification law, enacted under a pretense of child safety. In fact, these laws normalize privacy-violation and consolidate power in corporate entities without protecting children.

Other OSs comply, but Ageless Linux is a brilliant example of the potential for civil disobedience via technology.

Why am I only just finding out now, 22 years after it first launched, how good Metroid Zero Mission is?

I have once again been slapped down by git lfs.

I had gotten complacent and thought myself pretty comfortable using git, so I guess I was overdue for a reminder.

I saw a headline (I think it was YouTube) the other day that was like "I made 50 apps in 50 days using AI".

I thought to myself "That's great, but I bet they're all shit. Well done on wasting 50 days..."

Tools throwing in AI features would normally be an instant un-install for me.

However, SmartGit is genuinely excellent, so much so I would find it hard to do my job without it. I'm very happy SmartGit's AI integration appears to be very thoughtfully done, and it includes a 'disable and never show me again' button.

Of course I clicked that hard, and hope it stays that way.

Rest in peace Rebecca Heineman @burgerbecky The flags of game development will be flying at half mast today. Your work on the SNES port of Another World (Out of this World) is one of the greatest game coding optimisation achievements ever and will forever be an inspiration to me.
