Didn’t know what I was doing on twitter…less of a clue now.
I live on a #farm, in the middle of nowhere. Work in IT. #ScrumMaster. #Introverted AF. Bit of a #geek. Bit weird but generally a good ‘un.
#maskup folks as #covidisnotover! 🙂

EDIT: This was a joke. The joke is that I don't look like that. Not remotely.

But I realize now that my avatar is a crow not my headshot so a lot of you don't know that and some day I'll be at a conference and someone will say wait WTF I thought you were a smoking hot young Brat Pitt lookalike and I'll be all uh what are you talking about and it'll be super awkward.

Terry Elliott on Twitter

““I’m coming to think that releasing these [AI] tools was a reckless act with the potential to generate negative externalities we have barely started to imagine. The threat isn’t rogue superintelligence. It’s bullshit at unprecedented scale. Carl Bergstrom https://t.co/msUEQdlO5z”

I want to tell parents of trans kids under attack in the red states something:

This is simply horrifying. Like you, we can't understand how any politicians could stoop so low as to attack the most vulnerable among us.

You are strong, and we will fight for and beside you. And though we may lose these initial battles, your love and strength will help win this in the end. I know that to be true.

"Why won't you pay the $8?"

Five months ago, before she died, my 91-year-old great-grandmother described to me how, while her mother was taken to the gas chambers by the Nazis, she asked her mother, "Where are you going?" and "When are you coming back?" She never saw her mother again. I was literally shaking while I was listening.

Now, when I checked Twitter, I bumped into two accounts, one "verified," and the other one lost their "verification" yesterday. I'll just leave it right here...

Public health should fight for the marginalized, not make excuses for the ruling class.

This is a formal portrait of the surviving Apollo astronauts. That's Buzz Aldrin in the silver tux. I have to imagine the conversation went like this:

ALDRIN: Ok, let's get started
PHOTOGRAPH: Mr. Aldrin, you are aware that this is a formal portrait?
BA: I'm not an idiot son.
PG: Well your suit-
BA: Son, have you been to the moon?
PG: No sir.
BA: Well I have. The moon. The motherlovin' moon. In a tin can run by a calculator and powered by a can of sterno. (1/)

Officials continue to avoid acknowledging that immunocompromised & high risk people are being locked out of society. This is a complete failure of public health. Public health officials should always listen to & center the voices of the people who are most impacted by a crisis.

#COVID #PublicHealth

The most ridiculous part of this is it’s only for the first booster and still zero visibility on if/when the under 50’s might be able to get an updated vaccination.
Thank you to everyone who has been organizing and continues to speak up for the need for COVID protections. You have kept so many safe, and made society more accessible to everyone. Don't give up, you are making a difference!

Cleaner air not only reduces the risk from COVID infection but all other viruses that transmit in aerosols through the air like influenza and other respiratory viruses.

Cleaner air also protects from multiple different types of air pollutants linked to various health problems and cognitive impairment which you can learn more about here ( https://mstdn.science/@jeffgilchrist/109580638330581137 ). 17/

We have high levels of an airborne disease which is known to have killed over 200K people in the last three years in he UK alone and yet peer/media pressure has convinced almost everyone not to take even the most basic precautions.

An extraordinary time to be alive.
