LIMITS 2025 -- Workshop on Computing within Limits

I am converting an article from LaTeX to a MS Word template and was not looking forward to migrating my citations over to Word ... until I found out in BibDesk you can export your references to an XML file and import them into word ... made my day! 🤗

@twostraws @mikaelacaron @swiftovercoffee

This may be one of the more boring things listed here, but I'm actually excited about the native support for containerization, specifically for setting up dev environments on my Mac.

@twostraws anytime I want a feature Paul, I'm going to ask you to include it in the changes doc you make, it FINALLY happened!
@twostraws You got me with the iOS 19 updates : ) I saw WebView and thought you had some inside knowledge on what will be released ... only to get rick rolled
RSS never tracked you.
Email never throttled you.
Blogs never begged for dopamine.
The old web wasn’t perfect.
But it was yours.

It is graduation time and Ducky Weather has graduated to 2.0! The following features were added/updated:

1) Weather Alerts - Alerts will now stack
2) Updated Map - The radar map has been improved and supports both a light and dark mode. It also centers on your location.
3) Hour by Hour Forecast - The hour by hour forecast in the widget is now shown in the main application

If you have feedback, please let me know!

@andresmh @asb There are certainly areas where students would be able to construct something that they might not have been able to build before in the traditional constraints of a semester. But my fear is that they will become more or less "vibe coders", which in the original article I included is indeed what that student became; using generative AI to do all their coursework. I agree AI provides opportunities in the classroom, which has been demonstrated in recent research, but this is not it.

Currently converting an iOS app written in UIKit over to SwiftUI, ugh! I feel like I am rebuilding a house ...

@Gargron when talking to students about the early days of the web, I try to tell them how exciting of a time it was and the openness of it. In many ways, Mastodon reminds me of those early days. Today, there is more clutter out there that is trying to monetize our attention and lock us into yet another platform.
