We observed an unexpected rise in #IgG4 #antibodies after repeated #SARS-CoV-2 #mRNA vaccination.

This work is now published at #Science Immunology.

IgG4 is a non-inflammatory IgG subclass and we see a deterioration in Fc-mediated effector functions like phagocytosis and complement deposition, while Fab-mediated avidity maturation and cross-neutralization are preserved.

What does this mean for protection? We don't know and it's complicated. Read the paper!

Thrilled to kick off the holiday season with a new paper from the lab! Out in @NatImmunol today, we explore an unexpected function of terminally exhausted T cells and their contribution to the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. 🧵 1/ https://www.nature.com/articles/s41590-022-01379-9
Hypoxia drives CD39-dependent suppressor function in exhausted T cells to limit antitumor immunity - Nature Immunology

Exhausted CD8+ T cells with diminished effector functions accumulate in tumors. Here, the authors show that hypoxia induces a suppressive phenotype in exhausted T cells and that interfering with hypoxia-mediated CD39 expression limits immunosuppression in the tumor and augments immunotherapy, resulting in arrest of tumor growth.

#introduction !

I’m an immunologist from #Denmark, with a PhD from #NIH and #UniversityofCambridge where I used #CRISPR screens to dissect #Tcell integrin activation.

Now I’m a postdoc at #TechnicalUniversityofDenmark (#DTU ). My interest currently revolves around using/developing novel CRISPR tools for T cell editing as well as using CRISPR to identify novel #immunotherapeutic targets.

Also I love my 2 year old son and my wife, and have a passion for sailing and biotech innovation!
