Halloween only takes a small dog and a spider costume.

For those wondering, โ€ฒโ€ฒhow did i do it?":
I boiled 10L of water, added 2 tablespoons of vinegar, 1 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate, two cups of coke, and half cup of lemon juice, then stirred well. Waited 3 minutes, put the pan in the solution for 45 minutes, then added a quarter cup of chlorine bleach to the mixture. Then I brushed it with a firm toothbrush and put it back into the liquid for another 25 minutes. I took it out, rinsed it, and it looked exactly the same, so I threw it away, and went and bought a new one.

Edit: Please donโ€™t actually make this concoction! The resulting mixture may produce poisonous gases! This toot is a joke, the pictures are not even my pans. I didnโ€™t throw any pans away. Following these directions, despite the fact it probably wonโ€™t do anything useful, would be fucking stupid and you may win a Darwin Award.

San Francisco stores: We are closing because of crime! Unless you give us a huge tax break hint hint.
SF Mayor: We can't give you a tax break because we spent all our money on police. Would you like some extra police instead?
Stores: Well actually we may have been fibbing a little about the crime, which statistics show is in fact down. But we really could use that tax break.
Mayor: More police it is!

We are in a moment, and moments like this donโ€™t come along often. This is a lot bigger than which UI has more bells and whistles, or what features you prefer. This is our opportunity to throw off the yoke of corporate predation. To free social media from walled gardens. We wonโ€™t get another chance. We are all in this together.

Read an article today about why Americans think alcohol has health benefits and it's apparently another "well the French are healthy and they do X so it's healthy to do X."

So here's your periodic reminder that France (and Italy, and Sweden, and Japan, and basically every country you've seen in a "this country is so healthy, what's their secret?" headline) has universal health care.

The secret is access to health care. It's always access to health care.

The City of Minneapolis actually thinks they can rebuild the goddamn third precinct police station. There is a fast and furious "engagement" process presenting it to residents as a choice of location only. So far the community's answer has been: fuck off, we hated having those bastards' shitty clubhouse over here and they never did anyone any good. Cops are getting boo'd out of meetings. City officials are overwhelmed and surprised, they thought they could pull one over (why??).

The people of Minneapolis burned that shit down for a fucking reason and we like it gone.

The only two viewpoints on generative AI that get any play among tech punditry are:

1. AI is a lever that helps people do better
2. AI is effective automation that will replace people, or be a threat to them.

The third viewpoint, that AI tools are kind of shit and, if used in their current form at scale by corporations and governments, will โ€œenshittifyโ€ large portions of our society, doesnโ€™t seem to register with them at all.
